Evil=Rove

It appears that it may in fact have been Carl Rove that released the name of Covert CIA agent Valerie Plame. And it looks like he will probably get away with it. Here’s the story:

The Downing Street Memo

It has been a while since my last post because, honestly, it is all just too depressing. We have a president that does not seem able to tell the truth. The main stream media refuses to cover anything that in any way might contradict the Bush administration.

The primary example of this is the so called Downing Street Memo. This isn’t actually a memo but minutes from a meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in July of 2003, eight months before our last resort invasion of Iraq. This document discusses how intelligence was “fixed” to justify the war. It shows that the Bush administration had already decided to invade Iraq even while George W. Bush was telling the American public that no decision had been made and that he didn’t want to go to war.

If something like this document had surfaced during the Clinton administration it would have been all over the media and people would have been asking for President Clinton’s head. As it was though, the so called Downing Street Memo broke in the foreign press and has received little attention until very recently in the American press.

Following the release of The Downing Street Memo more documentation has been uncovered by the foreign press, some dating to even prior to the date of The Downing Street Memo, that indicate the British government was concerned about the legality of an Iraq invasion and they were developing a legal justification by blaming the action on weapons of mass destruction and terrorism.

All of this sounds like some fantastic espionage novel but it is true. Neither the Downing Street Memo or any of the subsequent leaked documentation has been refuted. Don’t take my word for it. Read it all and judge for yourself.

One interesting note about this story is that it originally broke in The Times, a London newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch the owner of FOX New in the United States. I guess he has a little less control over the content of what is published on the other side of the pond ;)

The War Before The War

Here is an interesting article about the bombing of Iraq a month before Congress authorized any action. Bush lies and people keep dying.

Newsweek Told The Truth!

Here is a wonderful piece by Molly Ivins which shows that the disrespect of the Koran is not new and is well documented. The Bush administration would love you to believe that this whole story is just more of the liberal media misbehaving.

The Truth Hurts... Them!

Here is a great article about recent statements that Bill Moyers made about bias in the media.

Speech at Conference Assails Right Wing

UPDATE: Prisoner Abuse Continues!

It is being reported in the US media that Newsweek is retracting their recent prisoner abuse article, however, I agree with the article below which indicates that if you read Newsweek’s statement and look at the details you will find that isn’t exactly what they are doing.

Prisoner Abuse Continues!

How can we ever expect to earn the respect of anyone when we treat people like this? I’m sure the administration will claim that this was an isolated incident and that if it had of been aware none of this would have ever happened.

If a Muslim or any non-Christian did this they would be called barbarians!

MoveOn.com sponsored a contest for a flash animation that explains the Social Security issue. Here is the winner:

If it ain't broke, don't privatize it!

This explains the issue very well. Be patient is loads slowly.

Another interesting tidbit on this issue is what is in the news today. Bush wants us to privitaze retirement. Well just look at what is happening to United Airlines employee's retirement…
